The kitchen is the most heavily used room in any home. Grease on the hood, burnt-on oven grime and fridge odours build up unnoticed. Here's how to deep-clean your kitchen — and when to leave it to professionals.
1Stove and oven
Start with the stove: remove the grates and soak them in hot water with baking soda. Use a specialist oven cleaner on baked-on grease — avoid metal scourers on enamel surfaces. CleanTime uses professional-grade chemicals that dissolve grease in 15–20 minutes without damaging surfaces.
2Extractor hood and backsplash
Hood filters are the main source of kitchen odors. They need to be washed or replaced regularly. Wipe the tiled backsplash with a degreaser. Don't forget the upper cabinets — sticky dust accumulates on top of them.
3Fridge and microwave
Defrost the fridge and clean all shelves and door seals. For the microwave, heat a bowl of water with lemon slices — the steam loosens dried-on splashes. While you're at it, check expiry dates — they're often the source of bad odors.
4Cabinets, countertops, and floor
Empty the cabinets and wipe the shelves inside. Treat the countertop with a disinfectant. Mop the floor, including the space under the stove and fridge — grease and crumbs collect there.
